What is the Youth Advisory Committee
The Committee will:
- involve young Deaf and Disabled artists, arts workers or creatives in the decision-making process
- make sure our youth programs are shaped by young Deaf and Disabled people
- make sure we, at AAV, understand the needs, interests and priorities of young Deaf and Disabled people
As a member of the committee:
- you will be advising us on current programs for young people
- you will be advising and approving new programs for young people
You will advise us based on your personal experience and knowledge of the community and industry. We do not expect you to represent your whole community.
The age range is 15-25 and we welcome young people of all levels of work experience.
As a committee member, you will be paid $150 per meeting. If there is a fair amount of reading or reviewing of documents the pay is $250.
We want to make sure our members are as representative of the diverse Deaf and Disabled Victorian community as possible. We strongly encourage First Nations, LGBTIQA+, Gender Diverse, Rural and Remote, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), Migrant, Refugee or Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people to apply.
If this sounds like something you would like to be a part we encourage you to apply.
How to Apply
You will need to fill out an application form. Applications close 5 pm, Monday 25 July.
The form is a series of questions and a request for supporting materials.
Support materials can be a CV, a support letter or an example of your artwork. You can submit as many or as few support materials as you want.
