You’re invited to The Gathering!
The Gathering is our monthly disability-led online forum for Deaf and Disabled artists hosted by our CEO, Caroline Bowditch.
The Gathering is our monthly online forum for Deaf and Disabled artists and industry guests led by our CEO, Caroline Bowditch.
This month, we explore AAV’s Artistic Programs that engage with Deaf and Disabled young people within City of Melbourne, and meet some of the young Deaf and Disabled artists we work with.
We’ll learn about Capturing the City, an art project engaging Deaf and Disabled young people from schools across Melbourne. The project started in 2019 is run in conjunction with Arts Access Victoria and the City of Melbourne’s Signal studio. Situated in the heart of the city, the students explore their experiences and ideas of the city through artmaking and presenting their outcomes through exhibitions, audio works and projections.
We’ll also learn about Nexus, AAV’s professional development program for and by Deaf and Disabled people, designed to help artists aged 18-26 jump-start their career in the arts. We’ll meet young artists who have recently completed the Nexus program, and hear about their practices and plans.
Join us for The Gathering this month on Tuesday 26 October, 2.30 pm – 4 pm.
Please RSVP by 4 pm on Monday 25 October with any access requirements to rsvp@artsaccess.com.au and we will send you a Zoom link for the session.
Capturing the City and Nexus are supported by the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Gathering is supported by The City of Melbroune.
