Participate In The Project
Artists, arts organisations, and allies who have been involved in disability arts practice in Australia at any point in time will be invited to participate in the project in one or more of three ways –
- In Stage 1, in 2021-2022, people and organisations who have been involved in disability arts in Australia will be invited to contribute by providing access to historical documentation of their practices, and/or participating in interviews
- In Stage 2022-2023, people who have been involved in disability arts in Australia will be invited to contribute by participating in participatory design workshops which consider the best way to represent our shared history in an online archive

Access, Inclusion, and Support for Participation In The Project
The evolution of disability arts in Australia: practices, legacies, and cultural heritage is a disability-led research project.
The research team welcomes the participation of artists, allies, and project participants who identify as having lived experience of disability, neurodiversity, chronic health conditions, mental health conditions, and/or are d/Deaf, and artists who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, and/or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, or Queer.
The research team will provide easy read information, interpreters, alternative communication and engagement modalities, and other support and resources to facilitate artists’ participation in each stage of the project, including in the review of historical records, interviews, archive design workshops, and user experience testing of the archive.
