Artist in Focus – Angela Blazevic
Angela's artwork is in Shining a Light into the Darkness by Artstop.
Angela Blazevic is a Melbourne based artist who specialises in drawing and painting. We asked Angela a few questions ahead of the Artstop exibition, Shining a Light into the Darkness. Angela is one of the artists whose work is in the exhibition.
What kind of art do you make?
I works with portraits and I also love nature drawing. I find books in the library and materials from op shops and combine them to create paintings or collages. I like to have fun with art and see where it leads me…art is freedom. Many things in life can lead to art and opportunities are always there, you just have to find them.

How long have you been making art?
I have been making art since 2019, when my sister encouraged me to attend a class at Bridge Darebin. It was a great pathway for me to go into accredited Visual Art training.
What kind of art have you made in the past?
I have made an artwork commission for the ABC.
I have worked with Darebin City Council on their International Day People with Disability celebratory art booklet.
I have also been part of an arts project (disability advocacy) for Schizy.org , “Mojo 2022”. And I was part of the Arts Access Victoria Nimbus Studio exhibition 2022.
I was part of the DARU: Disability Etiquette initiative.

What are you looking forward to?
Finishing my Certificate IV at Box Hill TAFE and starting the Diploma course. I’m also looking forward to a volunteer opportunity I just got accepted for – helping students with art at a local community centre.
