Artist in focus – Adam Knapper
Visual artist Adam Knapper has received the City of Yarra Creative Community COVID-19 Quick Response Grants.
Over July, Adam is utilising this funding to work toward a series of drawings for a solo online exhibition in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The project, Down the Line, is a series of pencil renderings of interlocked ribbon forms. The entangled ribbons become a maze-like network that the eye can follow.
For Adam, the project aims to “connect people in the current situation of self-isolation through sharing of the ribbon drawings and their representation of interconnectedness. Whilst we are physically distanced, there is an inherent connection we share through the experience of COVID-19 and the possible stresses on mental health.”
The online exhibition will be launched in mid-August. Keep an eye out for further details on the AAV website soon!
Adam is a founding member of AAV’s Nimbus studio and also accesses the AAV mentorship program.
