Way Out West

welcome forest cool and dark i see footprints at
night footsteps are inky
black feet, black hands, black
tyres driving through the
bushes of fingerprint
leaves flying in the
sky clouds floating thunder
storms of finger
prints hands and feet and
arms are touching in the
forest

Poem by Way Out West 23 June 2011

Welcome to Way Out West. We make art every second Saturday at Westvale Community Centre.  We have a lot of fun together and enjoy great friendships. In the morning we work with paint, poetry, puppets, felting, sketching and sculpture. In the afternoon we play drama games and learn new skills in movement and voice.
Fleur Dean and Russ Pirrie are award winning performance and visual artists who lead us through every workshop alongside our legendary qualified support workers Rachael Walker, Sally Jones and Farhia Hersi. We are a great team.

We have exhibited our artwork at The Brimbank Festival, the Hunt Club Community Arts Centre and the Big West Festival. At the moment we are working on a performance that we will show our family and friends at the end of the year.

We are looking for new members to join Way Out West. Please call our on-site coordinator Rachael Walker on 0458 148 437 if you are interested in coming along!
