Dominique Haslam
I have been working in community based arts and media organisations which have a focus on the representation and empowerment of marginalised communities over the last 15 years. Since moving to Melbourne two years ago, I worked as the General Manager of 3ZZZfm, a multicultural community radio station broadcasting in more than 60 different languages. I am committed to alternative, independent media in all its forms, and to the social justice principals of organisations such as Arts Access Victoria. The opportunity to combine my work history, personal beliefs and love of film was too good an opportunity to pass up, and so here I am looking forward to the new challenge of working on The Other Film Festival and learning all that this entails. The Other Film Festival is an incredibly valuable project which plays an important role in empowering people with differing abilities and life experiences to tell their own stories, whether as filmmakers or as film subjects, and to have the opportunity to be responsible for their own representation in the media.
I look forward to being a part of the dynamic team that brings this unique film festival to Melbourne and to be involved with such a great organization, engaging in so many diverse projects and services.
