Overview
For 35 years Arts Access Victoria has opened up the experience of making art to persons with a disability.
Since 1984 many more Victorians have been able to attend arts events through our EASE Ticket Service and our advocacy work with the arts industry.
Today we run innovative arts projects in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
- Looking for a local art class or workshop?
- Are you an artist with a disability interested in promoting your work or show?
- Want to set up an arts project in your community or organisation?
- Are you an artist wanting to work on one of our projects?
- Do you want to make your arts organisation / venue / performance more accessible, and get more punters through the door?
Access is more than just ramps. Providing services like audio description, sign interpretation, discount tickets are just a few ways you can bring more people (plus their family and friends). We can help set these up, plus market your show to our EASW members.

Arts Access Victoria is acknowledged as a leading arts organisation and represents Victoria on the Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts (DADAA) National Network.
We work in partnership with arts, health, disability and community-based organisations. We have a long and successful history of initiating partnerships which lead to quality independent arts projects such as: Big Bag Band, Somebody’s Daughter Theatre, Splash Arts Studio, Weave Movement Theatre and Art Day West.
Arts Access Victoria is represented on a wide range of Steering Committees to ensure that quality accessible independent projects, events and Festivals are established such as: Melbourne International Arts Festival, Awakenings Festival, The Art Of Difference Festival, Club Wild, The Festival for Healthy Living and more recently the Melbourne International Film Festival.
Arts Access Victoria manages up to 30 arts projects annually and employs more than 100 professional artists annually.
We are often the first point of call for arts and disability enquiries. In this role, we have the opportunity to identify the “gaps” across the State and we develop strategies which will enable these “gaps” to be met through strategic partnerships.
Our Inclusive Training Workshops provide us with a practical step forward to meet the “gaps” through locally based arts, health, disability, disadvantage and community partnerships / networks across Victoria.
We have identified training as an efficient and sustainable way for people with disabilities to have greater participation in the arts. It is well known that people with disabilities are still very under-represented as participants and as audience members in the arts, despite a growing awareness that art is one of the most accessible, self-empowering and community strengthening activities that currently exists.
By training the people who work in the disability sector, we can reach a much greater number of people with disabilities, and it can lead to long-term, integrated arts programs, which in turn leads to a more sustainable and inclusive arts industry.
