The Music of Karlheinz Stockhausen

Presented in the resonant South Melbourne Town Hall, a concert of solo and chamber instrumental works written by Karlheinz Stockhausen, one of the most prominent composers of the 20th Century. Many of the works are extracted from his opera cycle, LICHT, and are highly virtuosic and deeply expressive. Combined with intriguing instrumental techniques, Stockhausen’s music have a deep theatrical element, making for a fresh concert experience. Features some of Melbourne’s finest performers, including Karen Heath and Tristram Williams, both of whom worked with Stockhausen himself at the annual Stockhausen Courses in Kürten, Germany.
