Elements of Gertrude

Starting at 4.00pm, Sunday 13 May at The Workers Club Fitzroy, the event kicks off with a clothing exchange giving people an opportunity to swap themselves a new wardrobe! A raffle draw with great prizes donated from local businesses will take place and an event ticket includes one free entry into this draw. From 6.00pm local bands including; Ana Nicole, Footy, Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats, Jane Dust, Harpoons and DJ Francis Plagne will play.
The night will also provide a sneak peek into the Gertrude Street Projection Festival held in July.
“This is a great opportunity to swap the clothes you’re tired off, listen to some sweet tunes and help out the Projection Festival.” says La Trobe University event management student Esila Orak.
The Gertrude St Projection Festival takes place from 6.00pm – midnight, July 20 to 29. Running over one kilometre of Gertrude Street, windows, laneways, walls, footpaths, shop interiors, tree-trunks and whole buildings will be lit up with projected art designed around the theme Elements. Works created by international projection artists, community groups and general entries transform the length of the street. The aim of the festival is to create a more connected and culturally sustainable community.
