Opera Australia – Verdi’s La traviata

255 x 255 1.jpg

Set in 1890s Paris, La traviata is the ultimate tragic romantic opera with Verdi’s grand choruses, the intimate arias and duets, and the sensational Russian soprano Elvira Fatykhova making her Melbourne debut alongside the dashing Aldo Di Toro as Alfredo. La traviata translates as ‘the fallen woman.’ Alfredo and Violetta are lovers with very different backgrounds who are forced to part by Alfredo’s family who are opposed to Violetta’s courtesan past.

Performed in Italian with English subtitles.
