ACCESSIBILITY PROJECT AT NATIONAL SPORTS MUSEUM

30 June 2011

Melbourne’s National Sports Museum has launched a breakthrough accessibility project that will provide deaf and hearing impaired visitors with a free and flexible way to engage with exhibitions.

Developed in partnership with the Australian Communications Exchange (ACE), Smart Auslan allows visitors to download Auslan video translations of exhibition information via a Smart phone. Visitors simply point their phone (or a device borrowed from the Museum) at a special Quick Response Code (QR Code) on exhibition plaques which instantly downloads free Auslan translation videos with captions to convey exhibition information and commentary.

If you are interested in finding out how Smart Auslan could be used in your organisation, please contact Phil Rogers, ACE’s Marketing and External Communications Manager on 07 3815 7616, or visit the Smart Auslan website to find out more.
