Larissa MacFarlane- New Etchings and Drawing

larissa Macfarlane Invite-290x290.jpg

This exhibition by artist/printmaker Larissa MacFarlane, features 23 of her recent etchings, linocuts and drawings. This work has been inspired by the landscapes of Melbourne’s West, and creates poetic connections between the industrial, the suburban and the natural worlds. Larissa also draws inspiration from her experience of illness and disability to investigate ideas of belonging and place, healing and change and ways that we can celebrate what we have here and now.

Larissa has been practicing as an artist since a brain injury in 1998 enhanced her visual perceptions. She recently completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at the CAE, majoring in Printmaking. In recent years, she has exhibited consistently, particularly in Melbourne’s west where her work as a printmaker is becoming well known. In 2010, she won the Wyndham Contemporary Art Prize, the Victorian Mental Health Week Art Award, as well as the RASV Printmaking Prize.

Larissa is also donating 50% of all sales to Disability Sport & Recreation to help establish a wheelchair basketball clinic in Vietnam.
This exhibition is part of Art in Public Places www.artinpublicplaces.com.au
