Larissa MacFarlane

I am primarily a printmaker, having in recent years fallen in love with the processes of etching, mezzotints, lino and woodcuts.

Living in Footscray, my work is inspired by the local landscapes of Melbourne’s West, as well as influenced by ideas of belonging and place, healing and change, and a determination to celebrate what we have here and now.

My journey as a visual artist began over a decade ago after acquiring a brain injury that not only changed my identity and relationships, but literally the way that I see the world. Colours, shapes and textures suddenly held more meaning and intensity.

Over the past five years I have regularly exhibited, including 3 Solo shows in Williamstown café galleries. In 2006, I won the Connected 06 Peoples Choice Award and in 2008 and 2009, I was awarded the RASV Printmaking prize. I have also received many Honourable Mentions such as at the 2009 Art in Public Places Award, the 2007 Incinerator ‘Depot’ Exhibition, and the 2008 and 2009 Mental Health Week Art Award. My art is also on permanent display in the Maribyrnong City Council Art Collection.

I am also motivated by the poetry of the everyday challenges that we face both as individuals and globally. It is not just about the burdens that dare us but also the gifts that can surprise us!

Samantha Menzies

I am a teaching/community artist, based on the Mornington Peninsula with experience working with a wide range of groups. I have worked mainly in the Health and Community sectors both as an artist and wearing my “qualification” hat as a Division 2 nurse/community health worker. My main areas of interest are in textiles (feltmaking, art dolls, embroidery and natural dying), journal making and journalling and in basic photography and the use of personal photography in journals. I love experiencing the positive effect that art can have on clients.

Daniel Cooling

I am a qualified theatre professional and am looking to kick start my career in the fields of set design & stage makeup. I currently work occasionally on a sessional basis with Future Art, a program for people with a disability run by BRACE, and would like to expand on this work with other such programs. Please consider me your best option for a reliable, energetic and professional individual who is willing to give 110% to any team, and if you are looking for a creative genius who can facilitate any project from conception to completion, I’m available during business hours on the number listed.

Lisa Defazio

Here we are given the opportunity to own these wonderful insights into our human state; these remarkable images combine Lisa’s unique handmade graphic style often using embedded text and her trade mark ‘ faceless dolls’ to render us truly moved. These seemingly innocuous little people transport us into the core of our deepest emotions, hopes and fears.

“We are all children walking through this life as adults.”
